Easy Honey Sesame Chicken

Easy Honey Sesame Chicken

We have a little orange tree in our backyard that is giving us our first orange. I think it’s pretty exciting! It will be a while before it’s ripe, but it gives me a lot of time to come up with a neat recipe for it. I’ll keep you updated on its progress!

Easy Honey Sesame Chicken

Today, I decided to make an easy crockpot recipe – Honey Sesame Chicken. It doesn’t get much easier than this.

Easy Honey Sesame Chicken

Or more delicious.

Easy Honey Sesame Chicken

I make this recipes at least twice a month since it’s so easy. If you want to try a twist on this recipe, serve the shredded honey sesame chicken in lettuce wraps. It’s a light and healthy alternative!

Don’t want to use two forks to pull apart the chicken? I have a neat tip for shredding chicken easily too!

Author:
Ingredients
  • 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup tomato paste
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • ¼ cup rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the soy sauce, tomato paste, ginger, honey, garlic, rice wine vinegar, 2 tablespoons of water, sesame oil, and sriracha. Pour the mixture into a large crock pot. Add the chicken and diced onion to the slow cooker and stir, making sure the sauce covers the chicken.
  2. Cook on low for about 3 hours, until the chicken is cooked through. Remove the chicken from the crockpot, shred, then return chicken to the crockpot. Dissolve the cornstarch in 3 tablespoons of water. Add the cornstarch mixture to the crockpot to help thicken the sauce. Cook for an additional hour to thicken the sauce (Or alternately, you may also remove the chicken and cook on high for 30 minutes).
  3. Serve over rice and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
