Ingredients

  • 2 cups of broccoli florets
  • 3/4 cup of grated cheese variety of choice
  • 1 cup of Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
  • 2 medium eggs beaten
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preparation of Broccoli: Begin by boiling the broccoli florets in a saucepan of water until they are tender, which should take approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Once achieved, drain the broccoli thoroughly and transfer to a large mixing bowl.
  • Combining Ingredients: To the bowl containing the softened broccoli, add the grated cheese, Panko breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, and the beaten eggs. Season the mixture with salt and freshly ground black pepper according to taste. Mix all ingredients thoroughly to ensure that they are well combined and evenly distributed.
  • Forming the Cheese Balls: Using a tablespoon, scoop a heaping amount of the broccoli mixture. Place the mixture in the palm of your hand and gently shape it into a compact ball. Repeat this process until all the mixture has been used.
  • Baking Process: Arrange the formed broccoli cheese balls on a greased wire rack set over a baking tray. This setup facilitates even cooking and ensures the balls achieve a uniform golden color. Bake in a preheated oven at 300°F (149°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the exterior is crisp and golden brown.
  • Serving: Remove the broccoli cheese balls from the oven and serve immediately while hot and crispy. These are ideal for enjoying as an appetizer or as part of a meal.
