Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread

Delight in the fusion of iconic Sloppy Joe with the zest of garlic bread! Main ingredients include lean ground beef, Sloppy Joe sauce, a fluffy garlic bread loaf, and a generous layer of Colby jack cheese.

Now, sit tight for a little tale. Once upon a time in my quaint kitchen, I yearned for a snack that combined the childhood nostalgia of Sloppy Joes with my undying love for garlic bread. Sure, I could have had them separately, but where's the fun in that? It was game night, the energy was high, and I had a hankering for something hearty and zesty. After a few experiments (and a couple of flops - no pun intended), the Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread was born. Every bite took me down memory lane, making every game night thereafter an event marked by the delightful pairing of these two iconic dishes.

Let’s break it down, culinary style! Firstly, we're morphing two all-time favourites into one, which is like combining summer and Christmas (who wouldn’t want that?).

Secondly, it's the perfect switch from the mundane sandwich or the typical garlic bread side. And hey, in just 35 minutes, you get an appetizer that’s not just tasty but also an instant conversation starter. "Is it a Sloppy Joe? Is it Garlic Bread? It's BOTH!"

Plus, the garnish of fresh parsley isn’t just a pretty green touch—it offers a refreshing contrast to the richness. Delish!

Ingredient Notes For Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread:

So, diving into the ingredients. The Pepperidge Farms garlic bread loaf? It’s a chosen one for its fluffy consistency and authentic garlic punch, but feel free to get adventurous with other brands. Using lean ground beef keeps it from being overly greasy but promises juiciness. As for the Manwich Original Sloppy Joe sauce, it’s the classic taste we adore, but if you’re a DIY superstar, you can definitely whip up your own sauce. Oh, and the Colby jack cheese? It’s the melty delight that binds our Joe and our bread in holy matrimony. You can feel the cheesiness, can't you?

Detailed Recipe Breakdown:

Alright, you brave soul, into the kitchen battlefield we go!

1. First, set your oven’s roaring fire to 375°F. Meanwhile, lay aluminum foil on your baking sheet as if you're tucking it in for a cozy nap.
2. That frozen loaf? Let it stretch and thaw while you work on the meaty magic.
3. Channel your inner sauté master: melt that butter in a large skillet and let those onions dance until they’re dreamy and translucent.
4. Time to introduce the lean ground beef to the party! Keep them mingling until the beef dons a beautiful brown attire without a hint of pink. Drain out any party crashers (read: excess fat).
5. Here’s where the plot thickens! Add the sloppy Joe sauce, salt, and pepper to our meaty mix and let them simmer and bond for about 5 minutes.
6. Return to the garlic bread. Gently unwrap and lay its buttery goodness on your prepared sheet, open like a book awaiting a story.
7. Bestow upon each bread side an even spread of the Sloppy Joe goodness. Think of it as painting a meaty masterpiece.
8. Sprinkle that cheesy magic – a cup on each loaf – ensuring every nook and cranny gets some cheesy love.
9. Bake for 15-18 minutes. It’s done when the cheese bubbles like a happy potion.
10. Cool slightly, garnish with parsley if you're feeling fancy, and slice into delightful sticks. Voilà!

Storage Options:

Got leftovers? As unlikely as that sounds, you can store these mouthwatering breadsticks in an airtight container. Pop them in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, a toaster oven or a brief stint in your oven will bring back that crispy magic. Microwaving is fine if you're in a hurry, but remember, it might not preserve the crunch.

Variations and Substitutions:

Feeling playful? There are countless paths to venture! Swap ground beef for ground turkey or even a meatless alternative. Fancy a different cheese? Mozzarella, Cheddar, or Gouda can step in. And if you’re not a fan of canned Sloppy Joe sauce, unleash your culinary genius with a homemade version. There’s no right or wrong here, just a delicious journey of Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread innovation!

Ingredients

1x2x3x

• ▢ 10 ounces of frozen garlic bread loaf preferably from the Pepperidge Farms brand, thawed
• ▢ 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
• ▢ ½ cup of finely chopped yellow onion
• ▢ 1 pound of lean ground beef
• ▢ 15 ounces of Manwich Original brand Sloppy Joe sauce
• ▢ ½ teaspoon of salt
• ▢ ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
• ▢ 2 cups of shredded Colby jack cheese
• ▢ 1 tablespoon of freshly chopped parsley optional for garnishing

Instructions

• Begin by preheating the oven to a temperature of 375°F. Prepare a rimmed baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil. Ensure this is set aside.
• Extract the garlic bread loaf from the freezer, allowing it to undergo the thawing process while concurrently preparing the Sloppy Joe filling.
• Utilize a large skillet and set it to medium-high heat. Incorporate the unsalted butter, followed by the finely chopped onions. The onions must be sautéed until they achieve a translucent and softened texture.
• Subsequently, introduce the lean ground beef to the skillet. Ensure the beef is browned thoroughly for approximately 5-6 minutes. Ascertain that no traces of pink remain within the meat. Following this, it's imperative to drain any superfluous fat and liquid from the skillet.
• Lower the heat to medium-low and infuse the skillet, containing the browned beef and onions, with the Sloppy Joe sauce. Additionally, incorporate the salt and ground black pepper. This concoction should be stirred and allowed to simmer for a duration of 5 minutes.
• Concurrently, extract the garlic bread loaf from its packaging. It may necessitate the use of a butter knife to separate the two segments of the loaf. Position both sections of the garlic bread on the previously prepared baking sheet with the buttered side facing upward.
• Allocate the Sloppy Joe mixture in an equitable manner between the two sections of the garlic loaf, ensuring the distribution is even.
• Garnish each of the loaf sections with 1 cup of the shredded Colby jack cheese.
• The arrangement should be baked for a duration spanning 15-18 minutes. It's imperative to ascertain that the cheese has undergone a complete melt and exhibits a bubbly appearance.
• Prior to serving, it's recommended to let the Sloppy Joe loaves undergo a brief cooling period. Should one choose, the loaves can be adorned with freshly chopped parsley. For serving, each loaf should be meticulously sliced into 2-inch wide segments.
