Drain beef extra well, and don’t skip the broil step!
Can I use frozen beef?
Thaw first, or cook frozen in the pan (break it up as it thaws).
What sides pair well?
Crispy roasted potatoes, a tangy slaw, or garlicky green beans.
Keto version macros?
With almond flour: ≈ 4g net carbs/slice. Cheese is life!
Why are my cookies flat?

Easy Cheeseburger Pie Recipe
Ingredients
For the Meat Layer
- 1 pound ground beef lean
- 1 cup onion finely chopped
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the Batter Layer
- ⅓ cup coconut flour
- 3 tablespoons almond flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 4 large eggs
For the Topping
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheese cheddar or a blend
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C)
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion together until the meat is no longer pink, about 8-10 minutes
- Drain any excess fat from the meat mixture if necessary
- Transfer the cooked beef and onion mixture to a 9.5-inch pie plate, spreading it evenly across the bottom
- Sprinkle the salt evenly over the meat layer
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the coconut flour, almond flour, and baking powder
- Add the almond milk and eggs to the flour mixture and whisk until smooth and well combined
- Pour this batter evenly over the meat in the pie plate, allowing it to soak in slightly
- Sprinkle about 1 cup of the shredded cheese over the top
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the center is set and the top begins to turn golden
- If using tomato slices or other toppings, remove the pie from the oven after the initial baking time
- Add the tomato slices (if using) and sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheese on top
- Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly
Notes
- For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cheese alternatives
- If you don't care for coconut flour, you can use all almond flour instead (about ⅔ cup total)
- Additional topping options include cooked bacon pieces, dill pickle slices, or a drizzle of sugar-free ketchup
- For extra flavor, add 1 teaspoon of garlic powder or 2 minced garlic cloves when cooking the beef
- This pie freezes well - cut into individual portions and freeze for quick future meals
- For a spicier version, add ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the meat mixture
