Ingredients Notes
Each ingredient in our Cheesy Texas Toast plays a pivotal role in crafting the perfect bite. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll need and why:
- Mayonnaise: The real mayonnaise acts as a creamy binder for the cheeses, adding a slight tang and rich texture that enhances the overall mouthfeel of the dish.
- Cheddar Jack Cheese: This cheese blend is ideal for melting, providing a smooth, creamy layer that perfectly complements the crisp toast.
- Parmesan Cheese: Adds a sharp, salty flavor that balances the mildness of the Cheddar Jack, giving the toast a more complex flavor profile.
- Gourmet Garden Parsley: This not only adds a pop of color but also introduces a fresh, clean taste that cuts through the richness of the cheeses.
- Seasoned Salt and Black Pepper: These seasonings are simple but essential for elevating the flavors without overpowering the primary ingredients.
- Gourmet Garden Chunky Garlic Paste: It’s all about the garlic in this recipe, and this paste makes it easy to infuse the butter with bold garlic flavor that’s crucial for authentic Texas Toast.
- Salted Butter: The base of the flavorful spread, melted butter carries the garlic and herbs evenly over the bread, ensuring every bite is as delicious as the last.
How To Make Cheesy Texas Toast
Making Cheesy Texas Toast is as delightful as it is simple. Here’s how to bring this cheesy delight to life in your kitchen:
- Preheat and Prepare: Start by heating your oven to 350 degrees and setting up a crisping rack over a baking sheet. This setup helps the heat circulate around the toast, ensuring even cooking and a crispy finish.
- Mix the Cheeses: In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise with both cheeses. Add the Gourmet Garden Parsley, seasoned salt, and black pepper, stirring until the mixture is smooth and well-combined. This cheese spread will be the star of your dish, so make sure it’s perfectly seasoned and creamy.
- Infuse the Butter: Melt the butter gently in a skillet, then stir in the garlic paste. Cooking the garlic this way enhances its flavor, making it more complex and less harsh than raw garlic. The butter not only carries flavor but also helps to toast the bread beautifully.
- Assemble the Toast: Lay the Texas toast slices on the prepared rack. Brush each slice generously with the garlic butter, ensuring every piece is well-coated. This step is crucial for flavor and helps the bread achieve that signature Texas Toast crunch.
- Add Cheese and Bake: Spoon the cheese mixture onto the buttered bread, spreading it to the edges to prevent any dry spots. Bake the toast in the preheated oven until the edges are crispy and the cheese is bubbly and golden, about 10-12 minutes. For an extra crunch, broil for a few minutes at the end.
- Serve: Garnish with additional Gourmet Garden Parsley for a fresh, herbal touch and serve immediately. Enjoy the burst of cheesy, garlicky flavor with each bite!
Storage Options
Our Cheesy Texas Toast is best enjoyed fresh, but if you find yourself with leftovers, they can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days. Wrap them tightly in aluminum foil or place them in an airtight container to maintain freshness. To reheat, simply bake in an oven at 350 degrees until warm and crispy again.
Variations and Substitutions
Our Cheesy Texas Toast is wonderfully versatile, making it easy to adjust based on what you have in your pantry or your dietary preferences:
- Bread Choices: While traditional Texas toast is thick and hearty, you can substitute any thick-sliced bread, like a hearty Italian loaf or even ciabatta.
- Cheese Varieties: Not a fan of Cheddar Jack? Try mozzarella for a milder flavor or a spicy pepper jack to add a kick.
- Vegan Options: For a dairy-free version, use vegan mayonnaise and top with your favorite shredded vegan cheese.
- Add-Ons: Enhance the flavor by adding crumbled bacon, sliced jalapenos, or even a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for those who like it hot.
- Herb Variations: If parsley isn’t your thing, try substituting with fresh basil or even a little dill for a different herby note.
Recipe Card
Cheesy Texas Toast
Ingredients
- ¾ cup of real mayonnaise
- 4 cups of shredded Cheddar Jack Cheese
- ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup of Gourmet Garden Parsley
- 1 teaspoon of seasoned salt
- ½ teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
- ½ cup of salted butter
- 1 tablespoon of Gourmet Garden Chunky Garlic Paste
- 8 slices of Texas Toast
Instructions
- Preheating and Rack Preparation: Initiate the process by preheating your oven to a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Concurrently, position a crisping rack upon a sizable baking sheet to facilitate optimal heat circulation during the baking process.
- Cheese Mixture Preparation: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, amalgamate the mayonnaise with the shredded cheeses until uniformly blended. Subsequently, incorporate the Gourmet Garden Parsley, seasoned salt, and freshly ground black pepper into the mixture. Refrigerate this blend whilst preparing the remaining components.
- Garlic Butter Infusion: In a small skillet, melt the butter over a low heat setting. Introduce the Gourmet Garden Chunky Garlic Paste to the melted butter, stirring continuously. Allow the mixture to sauté for approximately 2-3 minutes or until the aroma of garlic becomes pronounced.
- Bread Preparation: Arrange the Texas Toast slices on the previously prepared crisping rack. Utilize a pastry brush to liberally apply the garlic-infused butter onto each slice of bread, ensuring thorough coverage.
- Cheese Application: Equitably distribute the previously refrigerated mayo-cheese mixture over each slice of the buttered bread, smoothing out the mixture to cover the bread comprehensively.
- Baking: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Allow the toast to bake for a period of 10-12 minutes, or until the bread has achieved a toasted appearance and the cheese has melted into a bubbly, golden layer. For an enhanced crispness, an additional broiling step can be employed for a few minutes at the conclusion of the baking.
- Final Garnishing: If desired, adorn the freshly baked Cheesy Texas Toast with an additional sprinkling of Gourmet Garden Parsley prior to serving.
