Ingredients Notes

Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy transforms everyday ingredients into a sumptuous dish that’s both nourishing and comforting. Here are some insights into the key components:

• Chicken Breasts: Lean yet tender, these are ideal for cooking low and slow, absorbing all the flavors.
• Cream of Chicken Soup: Adds a creamy texture and rich base flavor that enhances the overall dish.
• Chicken Gravy Mix: This is the secret to the rich, savory gravy that pairs beautifully with the chicken.
• Low-Sodium Chicken Broth: Keeps everything moist during cooking and adds a subtle depth of flavor.
• Sour Cream: Introduced towards the end, it provides a tangy creaminess that balances out the richness of the gravy.

How To Make Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy

Let’s dive into making your Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy with these detailed steps:

• Preparing the Chicken: Start by placing your chicken breasts neatly in the slow cooker. This forms the base of your dish and will be the main carrier of all the delicious gravy flavors.
• Mixing the Gravy: In a separate bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy mix, and chicken broth until smooth. This mixture will envelop the chicken, infusing it with flavor as it cooks.
• Cooking: Set your crock pot to low and let the chicken cook undisturbed. This slow cooking process is crucial for tender, fall-apart chicken.
• Shredding the Chicken: After the cooking time, shred the chicken right in the crock pot using two forks. This allows the chicken to soak up more of the gravy, making every bite juicy.
• Adding the Final Touches: Stir in the sour cream for a creamy finish, taste, and then season with salt and pepper according to your preference. Serve the chicken and gravy over cooked rice, sprinkled with fresh parsley for a touch of color and freshness.

Storage Options

To keep your Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy tasting fresh, consider these storage tips:

• Refrigerator: Store leftovers in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to preserve the creamy texture of the gravy.
• Freezer: For longer storage, freeze the chicken and gravy in freezer-safe containers for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.

Variations and Substitutions

Personalize your Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy with these creative twists:

• Dairy-Free: Substitute the cream of chicken soup and sour cream with dairy-free alternatives like almond milk-based cream soup and cashew sour cream.
• Gluten-Free: Use a gluten-free cream of chicken soup and a gluten-free gravy mix to cater to dietary restrictions.
• Add Vegetables: Toss in carrots, peas, or mushrooms for added texture and nutrition.
• Spicy Version: Add a dash of cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños to the gravy for a spicy kick.

This approach not only caters to various dietary needs but also adds new flavors and textures, making each meal with this recipe uniquely satisfying.
