Ingredients Notes

Each component of the Ritz Cracker Chicken Casserole plays a pivotal role in crafting its heartwarming taste and texture. Here are some insights on the ingredients:

1. Rotisserie Chicken: Utilizing pre-cooked rotisserie chicken not only saves time but also infuses rich, savory flavors that homemade cooked chicken might lack.
2. Cream of Chicken Soup: This creates the creamy base that binds all the ingredients together, imparting a silky texture and deep chicken flavor.
3. Scallions and Spices: Fresh scallions add a burst of color and a mild oniony crunch, while the blend of garlic and onion powders with Dijon mustard introduces a subtle kick that’s irresistibly good.
4. Ritz Crackers: The star of the show, these crackers provide a buttery crunch that perfectly contrasts the creamy filling, making each bite a textural delight.

How To Make Ritz Cracker Chicken Casserole

Let's dive into making your Ritz Cracker Chicken Casserole with a step-by-step guide that guarantees a perfect dish every time:

1. Preparation: Start by gathering all your ingredients. This not only saves time but helps ensure that the cooking process goes smoothly without any hiccups.
2. Mixing the Base: In a large baking dish, combine the shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, scallions, sour cream, chicken broth, and all the spices. Spread the mixture evenly to ensure each portion is as tasty as the next.
3. Adding the Topping: In a separate bowl, mix the crushed Ritz crackers with melted butter until each cracker piece is nicely coated. Sprinkle this over the chicken mixture, creating a layer that will turn perfectly golden and crispy.
4. Baking to Perfection: Bake the casserole in a preheated oven until the dish is bubbly and the topping is a beautiful golden brown. This not only cooks the casserole thoroughly but also gives it that irresistible crunch.
5. Garnishing: A final touch of fresh scallions adds a pop of color and freshness to the dish, enhancing its visual appeal and adding a slight crispness.

Storage Options

Ritz Cracker Chicken Casserole can be refrigerated for up to three days, making it a fantastic make-ahead meal option. For longer storage, freeze it for up to two months. Just ensure it's tightly covered to maintain its best quality. When you're ready to enjoy it again, simply reheat in the oven for a delightful meal as good as freshly baked.
