Essential Tips for Apple Crisp Bites Ingredients
Before diving into the recipe, let's discuss some key ingredients:
- All-Purpose Flour & Rolled Oats: These form the foundation of our crispy crust, offering a hearty texture.
- Brown Sugar: Adds a rich, molasses-like sweetness to both the crust and filling.
- Butter: A crucial component for that melt-in-your-mouth crust.
- Apples: The star of the show! Go for medium-sized ones and ensure they're peeled and diced for the perfect bite.
- Spices: Cinnamon and nutmeg bring warmth and depth to our apple filling.
- Cornstarch: This is our thickening agent, giving the filling its luscious consistency.
- Optional Caramel Topping: For an extra layer of indulgence.
How To Make Apple Crisp Bites
- Preparation: Start by preheating your oven and greasing the mini-muffin tin. This ensures a smooth release of the bites after baking.
- Making the Filling: Cook apples with butter, spices, and sugar, then thicken with a cornstarch-water mix. This process enhances the flavors and achieves the perfect filling consistency.
- Preparing the Crust: Combine flour, oats, and sugar, then cut in the butter to create a crumbly texture. This forms the base and the topping for our bites.
- Assembling: Press the crust mixture into the muffin cups, fill with the apple mixture, and top with more crust. This layering is what gives the bites their delightful texture contrast.
- Baking: Bake until golden brown, allowing the flavors to meld and the crust to crisp up.
- Finishing Touches: Cool and loosen the bites before serving. Drizzle with caramel topping for an extra decadent touch.

Oatmeal Cookie Crust:
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Rolled Oats
- ¾ cup Brown Sugar
- 12 Tablespoons Butter softened
Homemade Apple Filling:
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 3-4 Medium Apples peeled, cored, and diced into ¼-inch cubes
- ⅓ cup Brown Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Water
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
- 2 Tablespoons Water
Alternative Canned Apple Filling:
- 1 Can Apple Pie Filling
Optional:

Instructions
- Preheating and Tin Preparation: Initiate by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Concurrently, grease a 24-cup mini-muffin tin to facilitate the removal of the bites post-baking.
- Apple Filling Preparation: In a medium-sized pan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add the diced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and 3 tablespoons of water. Cook for approximately 4-6 minutes, or until the apples are slightly softened.
- Filling Thickening Process: In a separate small dish, blend cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Introduce this mixture to the pan, stirring continuously. Continue to cook until the apples are tender and the filling has thickened, which should take an additional 4-5 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool.
- Crust Mixture Creation: In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, rolled oats, and brown sugar. Incorporate the softened butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter, continuing until the mixture attains a coarse, crumb-like texture.
- Assembling the Bites: Place a heaping tablespoon of the crust mixture into each cup of the mini muffin tin, pressing it down along the bottom and sides to form a cup shape. Reserve the remaining crust mixture for later use.
- Filling the Crust Cups: Add approximately 1 tablespoon of the apple filling into each crust cup. Sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of the remaining crust mixture over the apple filling in each cup.
- Baking Process: Bake the assembled bites in the preheated oven until they achieve a golden brown coloration, which should take about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Cooling and Serving: After baking, allow the bites to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Utilize a knife to gently loosen the bites from the tin. They should detach readily. If desired, drizzle the tops of the bites with caramel topping prior to serving.
